RECALL: 25 February - heating wiring

Hi

I think this has been mentioned in some threads, but doesn't appear to exist as a standalone item.

Took X5 into BMW for warranty work today (torque converter clutch lockup malfunction - doesn't sound cheap to me...!) and they informed me there was an outstanding recall on the vehicle, that was issued on 25th Feb. Apparently some of the wiring for the heating system can overheat and malfunction. I didn't get the full details - and it isn't logged on the DVSA system for my car yet. I don't know the years/models affected - mine is a 2011 40d.

Might be worth checking out with your dealer.

I just called my dealer and I had two recalls, first was to replace the alternator screws and second was to check and replace if needed the heating wiring.

Mines a 2007

DVSA are quite often behind the curve as they work via registration and not VIN so it needs input from BMW to confirm all of the UK VINs affected, It should be much faster in this day and age though!

Mine is in for the heater wiring check (behind the glovebox) next week. The other two recalls don’t (currently) apply.

Just taken my X6 only to be told that the recall no longer applies to my car! They could have told me before driving two cars all the over and back again. :x

The recall now has and Information only flag on it against my VIN.

But, it might become a recall again in the future. WTF :headbang:
