Are there any other shocks/suspension bit from other models that fit the x5? I know it shares a few parts with the e39/46 just wanted to know specifically about the suspension.

If you look at Realoem (BMW Parts database) on line and use the last 7 of your VIN to pull up the right model, you can then check the part numbers and it will tell you which vehicles that part is also used in. Selecting the part number itself brings up a list of model/year and version, plus updated/revised part numbers.

I'm pretty sure the suspension is specific to the X5 due to the weight and size. The front lower ball joint may be common but think arms etc may be akin to the E38 7 series.
