Was driving along the other day and there was a loud clatter as the passenger side wingmirror glass fell out, catching the door as it went.
The heated mounting plate was left behind so it simply looks like the glue holding it on has failed. It now looks like this:
So a new one has been ordered from eBay and I gather it's a simple job to attach based on the YouTube videos I've seen.
Never had a car do this, but then again I've never had a car with a parking brake module totally implode or a 4x4 system be so fussy over tyres etc so I shouldn't be surprised I guess

I had exactly the same thing happen over Christmas, on the same side. Flapped a bit and then fell off. A new one was only a few pounds on Ebay.

Happened to us about a few months ago. Literally just fell off as we left the driveway. £90 from main stealer!

Just a few pounds from eBay. Exactly the same thing has just happened on my VW Golf as well!

£90 from the dealer!!!! I paid £12 for mine from eBay - identical to the originals and fitted within seconds on my drive. Heated too - the proper thing.

Don't worry guys, took advantage of the situation and took as many drinks as possible from the fridge that I could carry. Not to mention the coffee!
In reality, would have done it, just wasn't too bothered at the time. Should be more careful next time/do more stuff ourselves.
