As some of you have probably already seen in the "buy and sell" section, I will very soon be in need of a couple of rears for the beast, at present it's shod with michelins, and I know the purists out there will say fit the same, but it's my pocket that's going to get spanked so I'm looking at alternatives.
On previous cars I was always a fan of toyos, good grip, both wet and dry, and fairly good wear rate, whats the general thinking about tyres for the x5, and what have you got fitted to yours.

I have toyos on the rear on mine, nice tread pattern & good value for money. Will swap the fronts to toyos when they are ready.

Also have toyos on my tvr cerbera & cant complain.

Always laugh when the x5 goes into bmw they always comment that the rears are non approved! just wished i was made of money then i could afford factory spec.

Hi,

I've had Toyo's on my 20" wheels since I bought my X5 so have nothing to compare them with but I've been very happy with them.
They look good, wear well & are not noisy, grip is superb & they even performed well in the snow.
The price is pretty good too.
Fronts had done about 12k when I changed them last November but the ones I took off probably have another 4k left on them, I only changed them as the tread was down to about 4mm & snow was forecast, I kept them & I'll be putting them back on soon now the weather's improved to get my use out of them.
Rears have now done 14k & still plenty of tread left. I should get the summer out of them ( another 6k ) & then I'll replace them before winter & put the new (ish) fronts back on so I have good tyres again ready for winter.

Phil.
