				Hi I've an eonon stereo in now for about a year works ok but I want to put back the bmw one back in,
Well I fitted the original bmw one back in , but it turns on music comes out of one side and the screen comes on for a Minute or two , but I can't get it to do anything,

				Ok then ,can anyone tell me what the amp dose, now I know it does the  sound but what does the  computer bit on the screen,

				The sound issue sounds like the usual BM54 fault, you can get them repaired at places like here 
https://www.bm54.com, maybe speak to them about the screen turning off - I’m not sure if that can be attributed to the amp as well or not, I thought generally speaking the screen problems were caused by the ribbon inside that connects the screen to the chassis of the unit.

				Cartronics repair them and Baris can upgrade them too, also repairs the Amps, maybe worth a call.
You may be able to send it to them for Testing / Repair. See their Website
A decent double din  headunit would be my choice,( not a Chinese one. ) Kenwood or Alpine ,  the MK4 BMW unit is prehistoric now.

				glad i found this as my nsr door speaking is not working could this be a faulty BM54 more so then a duff speaker .

				Also check the large connector to the amp - called the quad lock - for any signs of corrosion or water ingress in the battery area.  Both are known areas of concern.  The amp is by the battery.

				good shout will check that i assume if i no what pin or wire does what i could carryout a continuity test of the speakers from that plug , so next question anyone no which wires are the speaker ones ,,,,
