Car is 2005 e53 3.0d and the EML does not come on when you switch ignition on, it does however light up during instrument cluster self test.

This is a problem here in the UK as there are new rules for the annual MOT which say that unless EML comes on with ignition then it must fail the test.

There are no faults logged (checked by ICOM Next and ISTA+)

Any one come across this before or any ideas please ?

It doesnt come on with ignition on the e53....just checked with my mate whom I sold my 2004 plated e53 too and he said no it doesnt, it passed the MOT 10 days ago....also from memory my e34 & e39 didnt either...

As above they don't have one.
Any faults will show up in writing in the middle bit.
Press the button on the right the one like the trip reset on the left it will self check.
My 2002 e53 3.0d passed yesterday.
