Looking to purchase E70

Hey everyone

I've been on here as a guess for long time, whilst researching my first BMW  :) I'm still torn between X5 and Touareg (I know they are quite different), but if the right X5 will come I'm going for it. I've seen a few, but they all had some problems with them which put me off.

Anyone knows of good E70? Ideally I'd like 2008+, 3.0D+ (preferably 35 or 30SD), Heated Comfort seats, around 100k miles with FSH (if documented I don't mind higher mileage) ... and my budget is £10k (and could stretch bit further for the right car).

Cheers

I would also set aside some money for repairs or a warranty as at that mileage and age they can have considerable expense without one.
I have cover with warranty direct and it cost me around £700 a year. Never claimed from them for 3 years so don’t know if they honour any genuine claim.

Could be tempted to sell my 2010 Space Grey 40d with 360bhp, comfort seats, 106k with FSH but it’ll be a bit more than your 10k budget.

If it’s only a bit more then I’ll take it.
Yours has a good spec and considering I just bought one for nearly 17k. Yours won’t be far off.

Good luck at that budget, especially if heated comfort seats is one of your requirements!  However, hope you do find an X5 -the drive in my opinion is much more refined than a Touareg of the same age.  Lots of pitfalls with those, too, by the way, as they get older, not just X5s.

I would start negotiations from 15k. Some prices especially dealerships seem really high and even pre LCi 35d’s are mid teens.

BMW AUC cars often have a £2k premium on them to cover the warranty costs, so you may have some wiggle room there.  :)

For the same spec and age mine always cane up 3-4K higher. The cheapest they had was a35d at 17999 2010 prefacelift. All others were all around 20k plus.
Only one Honda dealers has one at 19.5k still out there. All 4.0d I saw were never below 20k at main Bmw dealers .

Thank you for your replies. I have money aside for warranty and repairs ... this isn't my first car, just first BMW  8)

I know it's not the biggest budget (even if I stretch to £12k), but it should be doable. Happy to wait for the right car ...

No shortage of cars out there at that price level but you need to decide what is important spec wise and judge each car and see if its right for you. For me it was in order of importance something like :

Sd (  Infact I realized all the cars I was interested in had the twin turbo engine fitted 335d ,x3 sd, 535d,735d :))
M sport
Black
Pan roof
7 seater (didn't need it just the novelty really but It robs bootspace which i didn't know at first)
Towbar
20 inch wheels

Didn't get pan roof or towbar (to be fitted soon) but did get sd, M sport and black on 20's with heated seats reverse cam and adaptive xenons which I'm happy enough with ...well til I saw what Jay got  :)) Most cars over here in Northern Ireland seem to be se especially early ones.

I was very reluctant to settle for an SE as the unpainted bodykit and generally small wheels which look a bit lost in the arches Imo ) and wouldn't consider a 2007 car due to the silly tax for that year (£555 v's 315)
