Iphone Problem

I have an Iphone 3GS 32gb.
I have had it for about 8 months now on the O2 network.
Recently the phone has been switching off and rebooting during calls
It can happen at any time during a call, sometimes 1 minute, sometimes a lot longer.
Phoned O2 and they said to do a reset using itunes.
Anyone else have an iphone that is/has done this and did a reset solve the problem.
I am a bit sceptical about this but will try anyway.
The phone is still under warranty, should I demand it be changed.
I use the phone for business as well as personal and there is nothing worse than dropping a call when on a business call, has happened twice today

Go for the warranty Kena, they should replace it. But explain to them you may not be able to replicate the problem instore. With such cases they do a straight replacement - my wife's 3GS was done so in similar fashion. Can't remember what the prob was tho...

You done the usual reinstall, etc? Not jailbroken, right?

No the phones not jail broken.
All I have done is upgrade to IOS4 on O2s recommendation.
I ordered the phone direct from O2 over the phone for my last upgrade.
Will my local O2 store replace it or will I need to go direct back to O2.
Only ask as I have heard the stores are only franchises.

Ask Apple direct - they will ask for it to go to an Apple Store.

Did you have any problems before the upgrade to IOS4 (4.3 I take it)? If not, then could be the upgrade that is causing your prob...?

No no problems.
The phone came with IOS3. something on it. I have only upgraded to IOS4, nothing higher than that.
Just been reading the net and even people with 4.3 having same problem.
As it is the phones not fit for purpose, especially when on business calls.
And all I have done is upgrade the operating system which is put out by Apple.

In that case phone Apple and ask to be booked in for the Genius Bar. Once you get that appointment, you should walk away with a working phone (be that replaced or otherwise).

PITA is going there and taking a day/time off...

Had to have my iphone 4 done by Apple after it locked out during the upgrade process for 4.3. The Apple Shop in Milton Keynes fixed it and brought it fully up to date. Make sure you have a backup! You will lose all your data on the phone as they do a factory restore and reload. When you get home you need to resynch your apps, contacts and everything. The advice I had was do not restore from one of your backups as you may get the 'glitch' back. My 4 has worked fine and I did not lose anything, but I did not upgrade again to 4.3.1 just before I came away in case it did it again. Will upgrade when I return home.

Glad it's sorted. Take it, it was dead then and they couldn't restore?

They didn't even try.
Asked what the problem was. Told them and that it had been like this for about 4 months so guy just said I'll give you a new one.
I wasn't going to argue with that :)

Too flipping right. It's obviously a known issue then which is rubbish but at least they are trying to rectify issues :-)

So what's the verdict - do the 4.3 upgrade or not (on the phone)?

Or wait, if so - how long?

The new one has 4.2 something on it. The guy in the shop said it would be ok to upgrade to 4.3 if I wantd to, but haven't done it yet.
