I am considering geting one, mainly to use if I leave car for a several days away from home. I believe it won't stop a professional but may deter a usual car-thief, never used one though. Appreciate your comments and suggestions

Damn you make me feel old have not seen one of these in about 10 years at least, not much you can do about car thieves If targeted they will get you. Personally I really don't think you need it standard security is OK

I always thought that new BMWs were nearly impossible to start without the code key? Does not stop it being towed away on an A frame as happened to me
but it did have no engine in

Were the rear wheels still on the ground then? I trust there was no damage to the transmission as I understood that X's had to be lifted?

The transmission was out as well, so no damage there. Your right, autoboxes do not appreciate being towed.
