Not sure if I can help you. Matter of fact, am looking at a DAB retrofit myself. Could you post pictures and instructions if you complete it? Would really like to know how to do it and there isn't much online on how to do it.

I’ve done the retrofit, not hard at all just haven’t got the best signal
Apart from the unit itself, you need a fibre cable, connector for unit and 2 cables for power & ground

Interesting, is it a bad signal that is overall weak or does it intermittently drop out?

A bit of both really. I’ve ordered another aerial to see if that’s the issue. Also want to update the software on it at some point. It’s finding the time and right weather

I've had DAB in both of my last two vans,( Ford and VW ) when it's working it's great, but it seems to drop out on no signal all too often, even in ares where you would expect a good signal.
I would personally not choose it if it was a cost option, or retrofit it.

It’s not too bad in my m5, but does drill off sometimes but overall good. I only retrofitted it as I brought all the bits for my e60 a long while ago and never got around to fitting it, and thought I’d give it a go.

For parts of the UK closer to France have very low power DAB transmitter levels set. It’s down to Continental TV sharing the same frequency band as the UK DAB service (bad planning on our part). The results for that part of England is poor to non-existent coverage. You need the right aerials and diversity unit in the car (as it would if a factory build) or an external aerial.
I have noticed that the DAB(T) traffic system signals in our area are not as good this week but the DAB reception generally is fine. Could be weather or engineering work.

What aerial have you ordered.
I have an aftermarket head unit with a dab+ box but the aerial is no good at all.
Any links to a good one anybody.

New aerial seems to have sorted out the signal issue.
