I have the big multi-function steering wheel fitted to my '05 3.0d , and I'd
like to upgrade it to a Sport version .
Is it an easy thing to do ? And how much should I pay for a 2/Hand wheel ?
Cheers in advance
Chris

You can swap over but the expense is high - you will need the steering wheel (about £85 to £100 on eBay) and then the airbag (around £150).
Removal and fitting is simple - see this guide too:

If the car is 05 surely he already has the airbag.....Chris is yor car an se and you want to change the wheel to a sport???
The one in the top link above is a pre facelift sport wheel and the one in the link below is a facelift sport which you would have on a sport model as standard.

Just seen your other post chris and looks like you have an se either that or you have winter wheels on it.I'm now trying to remember what Penny's (it barbie)is like because iirc she has an se and i can't remember what the airbag was like.
@ Sanj ...is it the same as the pre facelift meaning a new airbag is needed???

Just guessing here but the SE used to have the 4 spoke wheel and it's airbag is tottally different from the conventional Sport one's and if Chris has the one in the first link, someone has changed it before he got the car. That I think is from a 3 series. Again, I believe the airbags are drifferent to the Sport one's we have.

Here in Lux we don't have 'normal' and SE's .
There is just one base model , to which you add as many extras as you can afford .
However , the standard equipement level is generally high , prob in between a
standard and SE model in UK .
The car I have is an '05 Facelift and the steering wheel is the original .
It's a 4 spoke jobby with a huge centre . Same as fitted I believe to 'base' model E38's
E39's etc . Looks bl**dy horrible and feels lifeless .
Certainly compared to the nice ACS job I have on my E39 , hence the reason I want
change it .
I like the idea of the M5 one , that sounds a good idea , but a normal Sport would also
suffice so I think I'll investigate when I'm at Gaydon next w/e for the BMWCC meeting .
I'll be on the Alpina Register with my B8 if anyone wants to come and say 'hello' .
Cheers , Chris
