Anyone else with a pre facelift 3.0 petrol?

Hi

Just curious on a couple of things.
Firstly it looks to me like something is missing from the lower front bumper. The mounting brackets are there but no sign of any part. Should mine have something fitting there?

Also what fuel consumption are you returning?

Can't help with the fuel but you do have the first part of the under tray missing (so have i).

Undertray

Expect 21 mpg average....if auto, driven very sensibly when warm (assuming no issues).teens in town mid-high 20s on a left lane motorway run.

I would expect high teens averageĀ  driven without economy in mind.

My 4.4i (totally different lump) returned under 10mpg urban when engine cold but would return high 20's on a run.

Hi all

Thanks for the replies. Mine is currently showing around 16mpg but haven't done any long runs yet.

The undergrad is not a problem then if missing. Many thanks.

Expect 16 mpg on trips under 15- 20 mins or so.

Keep an eye on the real time "indicated" mpg relative to the right foot......anticipate/plan well ahead to avoid stop/start type driving.

Maybe get it scanned for codes.....a bad cam sensor won't always throw a yellow dash light.

Poor plugs, filters, maf, cam sensors lamda sensors , oil (to some extent), can all make differences.

Good news is the engine is generally solid & reliable when all above are ok.

With the undertray missing, the inner wheel arches & other trim parts will flap about, & potentially catch a tyre & get torn off & flung into the following vehicle.
The undertray secures & locates lots of other bits of under side plastic splash covers & trim.

I lost several of the small inner arch trim parts & arch vents this way last year when I couldn't be arsed to refit the undertray after a day working under the X5, then drove 50 miles. When I arrived at my destination, the inner arch was hanging off & so nearly lost.
