DPF Cleaning in South Manchester/Cheshire

Post by bionicmanc » Tue Jul 10, 2018 5:19 pm

Evening all!
Could you recommend a place to get the DPF cleaned on my 2007 E70 X5 - warning light coming on after driving for 5 to 10 mins. Ideally the full job of removal, clean, refit.
I'm in Lymm, Cheshire, so anywhere around South Manchester/Warrington ideally but I'm happy to drive out to somewhere a bit further that's highly recommended by someone with good experience.
Cheers!
Mark

Sorry can't recommend anyone for the job, but can recommend you get the codes checked and see if the glowplugs/ glowplug relay are still OK, as these are a common failure on BMW Diesel engines.
If either these are not working the DPF will not regenerate.
Sort these and it may not need the DPF cleaning, or if you have it cleaned it will block again

You could also get a forced regen where (as long as everything above is working) the car can be put in the right ‘mode’.  Worth trying that first as nothing needs removing from the car.

Any BMW Dealer can force it, and some specialists.  BMW can also put a special fluid into the system to help the soot burn off.

Cheers fellas! Interesting comment re glowplugs/glowplug relay as I've tried to do a regen by driving it in a manner that many have mentioned, but nothing has happened...hence looking to get it cleaned. I'll get it booked in to get it all checked out.

**Edit** meant expensive/easy DIY job!
Out of interest, is replacing the glow plugs and/or glowplug relay an expensive job?

I did mine myself and did the swirl flaps whilst I had the inlet manifold off, depends on how good you are on the spanners.
Also if you shear off any of the glowplugs
