Front control arm bushes a bit hard perhaps - Who’s fitted what?

Fitted some Meyle HD control arm bushes a few weeks ago and as I’d not had the car long before I did it I can’t really remember how hard or soft the ride felt before the swap. The thud I was getting when braking sharply when coming to a stop has gone but the ride seems really harsh, too hash.

What have people fitted and find acceptable.

I’m on 20” wheels with Dunlop Runflats FYI.

Check tyre pressures and adjust according to your load
20” Bridgestone Rft normal pressure 34psi all round
Roofbox on.        36psi front 38psi rear

Already on 32psi so doubt it’ll make much difference.

Thinking of sticking some OEM or Lemforder ones in.

I have the same wheels and recently changed to Meyle ride I'd say is the same just more taught. Is your steering also really heavy?

Interesting. I’m going back to OEM today so we’ll see. Steering seems fine, my wife’s 1 Series has heavier steering.

Changed them over tonight and I have to say I prefer the OEM bushes, the ride is less harsh and more forgiving over bumps.

The main reason I’ve done this is because I’ve had a wobble since installing the Meyle bushes but even with the new OEM softer ones it’s still there a little.

No it hasn't mate, no signs of any damage and all parts original until I started fitting stuff.

I'm now convinced it's a wheel/tyre issue and drove fine with old worn bushes but they probably hid the issue. It drives spot on when not around the 75-80mph area and I've actually tried my winter tyres on but they are 18" and non runflats balloon tyres so hide any issues well, seems fine with them on.

Another forum member lives close to me so when he's home from his holiday he's kindly letting me fit his fronts to mine and take it for a spin, same 20" wheels and on runflats.

Thinking Road Force balance also but that's £25 per wheel and an hours drive away, I'll try the free stuff first.

Could it be buckled wheels or wheel balancing?

It’s what I’m thinking but nothing obvious and been balanced twice now.

Mine were shot when I got my car, that passed an MOT the day before  :(

Swapped them out in situ, without removing the arms from car, with Lemforder. BIG improvement. Might try MeyleHD "next" time..

You said you’d used MeyleHD and even linked me to the items? #confused

Yup, just realised, the Lemforder ones are here on my desk in front of me as I typed (I ordered both to see if one was softer) - They didn't arrive in time for me wanting to do it, so had Euro drop off the others (MeyleHD) albeit it at about twice the price. Reminds me, these need to go in the boot and up to unit before they get lost in here! At least I have two spare sets now though.
