Sometimes it can be triggered by the electronics not booting before you turn they key.

If you aren’t already doing this, you should turn, pause (wait for the lights to cycle), start.

If it keeps happening then check the battery connections are tight.  It will also appear on cars used for short journeys as the battery takes at least 20 mins to put the starting charge back in.

I just acquired another X5 tonight.... and its throwing up the self leveling warning too.
Last weeks X5 used to do this with the old battery, but new battery sorted it.

The latest X5, sits level, pump can be heard running if I park one wheel on a kerb lol...
It has had a new battery 3 months ago & is a rapid spin up starter too....

So,I'm wondering why this car is throwing up errors. I give it time to cycle its diagnostics before starting...
I'm at a loss here also.

Any more ideas, maybe help me & this other chap too please ?

Check that one of the level actuators on the rear suspension hasn’t become detached, or the arm broken or bent

Can be a multitude of things on these but if pump is working and the level is correct then worth checking the sensors in the first instance. Best to get the errors read to see what it's throwing.
