Split Screen Keeps Reverting back to "Position"

Has anyone had this or found a solution to it?  More of an annoyance than anything but, seemingly at random, if I choose anything other than "Position" on the split screen display (such as "Map Pointing North" which I tend to go for) it has a nasty tendency of reverting back to "Position".

Searched for it and found this but nothing definitive:

I used to have to save it to my individual key via the seat position memory buttons, wife's had different split screen and nav settings on her key.

Ooh, how do you do that?  Assume it's in the manual.

My seat settings are saved in the key and that works fine but I didn't know you could "force it" to save the iDrive settings in there too? Unless it does it by default and it's a bit flaky?

On my E93 with CCC IDrive, I could change settings, i.e. Split screen sat nav options, radio/ iPod options climate control settings.
When I openened the car the next time, all the settings returned to the settings before I altered them, also the wife's key selected different settings on opening the car including seat position, radio station, satnav screens and colours etc.
Reset your options to the desired ones, then press M on the seat controls ( M button will illuminate) then press 1 or 2 depending which key you have, hopefully these settings will be saved to that key

Ah - in which case I already do that and use the memory buttons as stated, but now and then it still does it, sometimes quite frequently (several times a day if I'm doing lots of stop start).  :(

Reversions such as you describe, or loss of memory on preset buttons, or loss of time on clock, or loss of data on the journey computers are often signs that the battery is struggling to cope.  Lots of start-stop journeys drain the battery quickly as many systems continue to use power for 15 mins after switch-off. It can take 20 mins or more motorway type driving to recharge it after a single start up. There is really only one cure - a new battery.  However, it's not a simple swap - the new one has to be coded to the car to reset everything including the charging rate by the smart alternator.  For similar reasons my 5 year old one was changed by BMW about 2 years ago with an identical replacement, fitted and coded for £148.  My local indy couldn't get an equivalent battery for less that £140!

Gotcha.  It does definitely do it more after frequent short journeys - I was wondering if it was related to simply the increased rate of stop start process and there being a higher likelihood of it doing it as opposed to thinking it may be battery drain (which had never occurred to me).  If that makes any sense.  Have no issues starting etc but the car is now 6 years old (it's a Feb 2012 registration) and has 76k on the clock.  Battery due replacement?  Might ask my local dealer how much they'd charge for a new one to be fitted.

Every now and then my steering wheel will also "forget" to come back out and I'll have to press the adjustment button manually but that is much more of a rare occurrence.
