adding side rails

Post by Barroni » Mon Jun 11, 2018 5:01 pm

Hello folks

Anyone have experience of doing this and the estimate costs.  Was thinking to do this for my 2011 SE.
It got the factory black plastic currently.  Ebay sell the boards for about £150.  Wondering how much is involved in the fitting.

Thanks
Lee

Hi guys

Thanks for the replies.  I have a 2011 SE.

Was thinking to add side rails like this.  As far as I can tell they are universal for the SE.

Reusch - did you fit yourself?  are they sturdy enough to stand on or are they really just cosmetic?

Thanks

Factory fitted to my 2008 registered E70.  Strong enough for me to stand on to wash the roof and I weigh 92kg

I cant use the steps on our X6 to wash the roof as I cant get a good enough foothold on them.
I bought a small folding step and just move it around the car to reach everything.
I am 6'2" and can reach the centre of the roof but not without leaning on the side of the car and getting wet.

I like these but don't believe they were possible on the M Sport like mine.  Adds to the look of the car and I'm sure would have helped my Dad who has much reduced mobility to get in and out as it's a bit of a climb otherwise.  Oh, and for washing the roof :)

Check in Realoem for suitable part numbers.  Last 7 characters of your VIN.  It will confirm what is it is not possible.
