Good decision.
What mileage is yours? How bad were they?

114,000 miles. Didn't see them and haven't had chance to chat with my mate (who did the job) about the condition

Did you get a remap too? I removed my swirl flaps also, but had heard may need remap to remove the function?

It was done at my mates garage, I think he left the motor connected.
I have a 14 BMW R12RT too and they have exhaust flaps that are built into the header pipe, they're known to seize and you have to replace the exhaust headers to fix the problem. However, they usually seize in the "open" position and the simplest thing is to unhook the cables, the bike doesn't know its been done so no errors. Only negative is a slightly louder exhaust note

Did mine last weekend, all you have to do is leave the electrical connector plugged in and no errors, you dont need a remap....
