Re: Brakes
check the vacuum pipe from brake servo to inlet manifold for breaks/perished and is fitted with a one way valve which may be faulty

Re: Brakes
Also worth gently touching each wheel hub in case it is a sticky caliper. If it is then one wheel will be warmer than the rest. This is the symptom on my X6 - solid pedal sometimes and front right wheel warmer than the rest. You might also get steering vibration, but not always.
New (remanufactured via Pagid) caliper here, just waiting time and weather to do it. I’ll probably replace front discs and pads at the same time.

Re: Brakes
If you have done what has already been suggested then you might try replacing the rubber pipes between servo and inlet, they could be collapsing on the inside

Re: Brakes help please
Hi just come back from a run on the motor way and scared the life out of me, I have to put two feet on the brake peddle to stop,
And when I say stop I meet it takes a long way to stop, so got the car back ,up in the air got my wife to put her foot on the brakes
All the wheels are solid but the pedal is hard,
Please please can anyone put any light on this
I forgot to say put carly on and it comes up with codes 004501 and 005f1e

Re: Brakes
Loss of vacuum? If the hoses are leaking you will have no servo.

Re: Brakes
Hi x5 if I take out the hose with engine running and put my finger over the end , there is pressure there , can I buy the new hose from bmw

Re: Brakes
If you put your finger over the end of the pipe does it suck a lot (with engine running).
If it does then it is a faulty servo they can get water in them and rust then kills them.

Re: Brakes
The hose connecting the servo to the engine in the attached diagram...

.....should be under vacuum with the engine running. The vacuum pump is front left of the engine (or was on mine).
