P0171/P0174 codes: Could leaving the oil cap off result in these codes coming up

A week ago the EML lit and the OBD reader showed the above codes. I cleared the codes to see if they came up again. This afternoon EML and same codes. I looked under the bonnet and whilst there were no apparent holes in the pipework from the Mass Airflow meter I did notice that the oil filler cap was off (I topped up oil about 10 days ago and must have forgotten to put the cap back on. Thankfully the cap was still in the engine bay and there has been no major oil explosion). Could this have led to airflow metering issues resulting in the above codes?

The short reply is YES. and welcome it would be good if you gave some info on your vehicle ie year engine and I assume by now you have driven the vehicle since putting the cap on and you will let us know the result.

Oil capĀ  was replaced, codes cleared with a generic OBD reader/Torque and all has been well for weeks. Thanks for the advice.
