Driver’s seat height adjustment

Hi - I pushed my seat back after my vertically challenged GF had driven, but I’d left a mini tool box under the seat. (I used the memory function, so it also tried to lower it etc). Needless to say the seat got jammed, but I managed to pull the box out... now the seat height won’t adjust. I can hear the relay clicking but that’s it. Front portion of the  seat will raise and lower - but rear portion won’t and my GF can’t see over the steering wheel now....

Grateful for suggestions as to what to check, as I can’t easily raise the seat to peer underneath...

I would remove the 4 screws that bolt the seat to the floor and then tilt the seat back wards and see if you have damaged any of the wires or pulled a plug out of it's socket. First try and help the seat up as you operate the switch.

Yep. I think that’s my first port of call. Might plug it in quickly to see if any seat errors - may have messed up end point settings - but perhaps a wire’s come loose... thanks for the reply!

Beware of tripping the airbag warning though!  Assuming you have the seat ones.

If you whip out fuse 44 (check the number - that’s from memory!) you can have the ignition on etc and use the electric switches on the seat without getting an airbag warning light problem

Quick update, as I finally got round to looking at this... I’d damaged the plastic terminal plug mounted to the motor - and in fact, snapped one of the terminals. Was able to Heath Robinson it with a spare bit of wire to move it back to position for my GF (who’s had to sit on a cushion to see over the steering wheel!) - and will see if it’s possible to solder a bit of wire to the terminal and use bullet connectors or similar...
