would really appreciate an opinion on the following options:

- Comfort seats (especially compared to sports seats)
- Adaptive headlights
- Speed limit display
- Voice control ( in particular can you say 'call home?' )
- Electric boot

I have to stop ticking the boxes!

Cheers,

steve

People rave about comfort seats but I don't have them
Adaptive lights are good down the quiet country lanes that I live around
Speed limit I had an F01 demo, good but not fool proof
Never got on with VC on any demo I've had. Is it not standard now?
Had this on my 535 but not on X because of the split boot

Hi Steve. I'm pleased you're getting there:

Comfort seats - nice option to have but not necessary unless you're very very large built.
Adaptive headlights - nice option, I have these and if you can justify them go for them.
Speed limit display - it just reads the speed limits signs and displays them for you, I can not comment how useful they would be.
Voice control - I personally find this most useful out of the four options so far, and yes you can say call home. You can also say call 0123456789 etc.
Electric boot lid - I really like this option, saves your hands getting dirty and protects the back of the car against finger marks too. You can not close it from the inside unless you pull out the key and hold the boot lid button on the key until it is closed. Can be opened from the inside though. You can also close using a button on the interior panel of boot lid.

Hope this helps.

Sped Limit Display is that the Hud? If so test drive a vehicle with option and see how you get on, personally I passed on that option as kind of use to looking at the speedo, I would say try and test as much options on vehicle if possible. If you have the time you may need to try a few different dealers to try all options unless you get lucky.

Thanks for your input. I will give the voice control another go.

newX5 - no speed limit display and HUD are two separate things, although if you have both, they are integrated.

Electric boot is a great option.

Comfort access is another brilliant option, keep the keys in your pocket, jump in and push the button.

My voice control hates me and as such I'd not recommend it, even tried it in an American accent, didn't help :D
Sports seats are great, not tried comfort though.
Electric opening of the boot is brill.
Tried adaptive lights on a demo and didn't see the point really.
Speed limit display, no idea, speedo works fine.

I never use voice control though I've tested it.
Like comfort seats - significantly better than my admittedly much older sports seats in E53 - but expensive!
Electric boot is nice but there are other options I'd have instead.
Adaptive lights - liked them a lot when in UK living in the country. Not so much use if your in towns most of the time.
Never had speed limit display so can't offer experienced opinion.

- Comfort seats (especially compared to sports seats)
good but can live without them
- Adaptive headlights
yes,
- Speed limit display
I personally prefer to check speed limit signs myself ;)
- Voice control ( in particular can you say 'call home?' )
it works ok if everyone is quiet in the car and windows are closed, otherwise you might need to repeat command several times. Also you need to know what to say. I personally prefer the way idrive syncs your mobile contacts and how you can redial or pick up any number from your phonebook.
- Electric boot
nice option but I am not sure you can quickly open/shut the boot if you are in a hurry

Speed limit display is useful, but I have found it is wrong in some places, presumably because the limit has changed since the last update was included. If the camera (windscreen mounted) sees a sign though (in roadworks etc), it will correct itself almost instantly. I presume it uses the map database to draw its info from and if that's wrong then the limit shown is wrong. I would not rely on it.

HUD is brilliant. Speed thingy - not really that useful for the price. Get rear heated seats instead!

Voice Recognition. Had it in my 335D and would really only say "CD","Perspective" and "Radio"

I have it in another car and hardly use it.
