LCI 2012 sports front coil spring broke at 45k?

Driving along this afternoon, and there was a very loud bang, pulled over and the front driver side spring has broken, is this part covered under the Bmw comprehensive insured warranty? There's no mention in policy about suspension, But at the same time it doesn't say it's not covered.Image

Our E46 breaks rear springs regularly, and usually in that spot at either the top or bottom final coil too.

I even had a Dealer once tell me that it was down to BMW using ‘recycled steel’!

The chances are that there was a microscopic inclusion or defect that caused a minute crack and over time it has fatigued.  You would need electron microscopy to find it though.

[/quote]As long as you are under the mileage limit for wear and tear (100k miles I think) then yes..I had one replaced earlier this year under warranty

One of mine went at about 40K on the front. I did not have a warranty but got a new spring fitted at a local garage for a very reasonable cost.
