Sticky calliper, DIY fixes?

I’m booked in with my indie next week to get new front pads fitted to e70 x5

I have a sticky calliper and that the alloy wheel gets very hot on a run

I’m hoping it’s fixable, clean, lube job; but without buying a new calliper; are there any parts I should get just in case, as I’m supplying my own pads and sensor?

Hoping the discs aren’t warped, but how does one tell?
I’ve ran my finger over it and the face isn’t as smooth as the other side

Go on real OEM and put your last 7 digits in and see what part no's your callipers are, then type that number into google and that will give you alternative part numbers.

Have ordered the calliper and piston repair kit, front axle
£40 all in. Hope they turn up by the 12th as stated as backup to have when I take my car to my indie on Friday

The seller is updating the contents for a twin piston
Which I assume is correct for the 3.0sd

You need to check on Realoem in case you have single piston units.

Strangely enough I have got an issue with my front right caliper on the X6 this morning.  It definitely wasn’t happy after a 30-mike drive and the wheel was warm.

Coming back this evening though it is fine and all wheels are cool to the touch.  The calipers on mine are definitely single piston ‘sliding’ assemblies.

The car isn’t getting much use and I suspect salt corrosion is the cause of these symptoms.  Once it stops weeing down outside for more than 5 minutes I’ll have the wheel off and a good look to see if I need to replace much.

The original item was sent out so have ordered a twin pisto kit too

update

mine are twin piston

kit wasn't needed at first. one piston was stuck wide open, but the mechanic thought it would move back freely and wasn't corroded it probably got stuck wide open and should be fine.

new pads fitted as last set were worn to bare metal.
off I went to collect some Pagid discs to fit.
5 miles drive and the wheel is hot and so assume the piston is wide open again.

going back tomorrow for new discs as worn badly and he's going to look at rebuilding the caliper
