Non-standard offset wheels

Sorry if this query is a bit "boy-racer", but here goes...........

Has anyone run their F25 on non-standard offset wheels?  The reason I ask is that I have a set of E46 wheels I could potentially use as winters, but the width (8") and offset (et47) are different to the Style 304s my F25 is likely to come with.  It seems to me that to get the my wheels to sit "right" on the F25 I'll need 10mm spacers.  Obviously I'd fit the correct sized tyres.

I think I already know the answer, but would it be preferable to try to sell-on the E46 wheels and buy another set of 304s?

TIA
Stuart

If it’s new and you fit non-standard then BMW will walk away from any warranty claims.  Plenty of folks have used spacers on here and with no issues, but beware of any warranty ‘challenges’  :)

I would be more concerned to check the maximum weight load on E46 wheels compared to F25 wheels in case you overload and crack an alloy.

Thanks for ^^^ that.

I've seen several cars I could be interested in, none of them newer than 14-plate, and only one at a dealer as an AUC.  BMW warranty is unlikely to be an issue.

Must admit I hadn't thought of potential loading issues, I'll look into that.  My first thought is that 60- rather the E46's 45-profile tyres may mitigate some of the differential.

I already have spacers, but would need new extended bolts and a set of tyres.  That would have me looking at an outlay north of £500 - probably make more sense to get a secondhand set of F25 wheels with tyres.

Having thought about it for a few days, common-sense has prevailed.  Before my existing wheels (which may not even look right on an F25........) go on another car they will need a refurb.  It's going to be cheaper to get a good secondhand set of correct wheels.
