Coolant Level Sensor

So,
I fixed the "parking light" error message with some nice warm white bulbs. The passenger side bulb required removal of three 10mm bolts to enable me to move the power steering and coolant reservoir out the way.
The coolant level sensor was accidently pulled out. So now my very last error message has been replaced with another.

I put the sensor back in and twisted a quarter turn to lock it in but now have a very slow leak.

My question is how to repair this.
Have I lost a washer
Broke the reservoir
Broke the sensor.

Anyone experiences or diagrams please.

I have searched the forum so any links are gratefully accepted.

Hi

Looking at realoem website at the washer bottle the sensor appears to be inserted at the bottom of the bottle and I would suspect it would have a rubber washer seated at the bottom to make the seal to the sensor, although it doesn't show it.

I would check if you dropped it which will be a pain to spot and or give BMW parts a ring and ask them if it has a washer seal and if so can you get a new one  and don't forget it will be over ten years old so could have even perished

Hi Smee,
I have looked and looked and cannot see a leak. I am associating this leak with my last action. I even used a torch to spot any steam. No water in oil and vice versa.
I read some interesting stuff of where to look too.

Hi Graeme,
I reckon the perishable washer theory holds water. (Sorry).
I will phone the dealer and make the enquiry. Sounds good.

As ever thanks guys.

Upshot.
Post the MoT the test guy said he thought there was a tiny leak on the reservoir. So I nipped it off as its only a teten minute job at most and plugged the holes. Applied 0.2barg and rubbed water over it. I have a hairline crack on the corner and it is weeping out.
BMW wanted £102, I made my apologies and bought one off ebay for £31.99p inc p&p. Comes with two year warranty from somebody called Automotive Parts Europe (APE).
Arrives Wednesday. Looks good.
Good result.
