Hi and welcome to the forum, can I advise that you supply us with a little more info on your X5
It's best to put what variant of X5 i.e. Petrol/ Diesel engine size, age i.e. Facelift / prefacelift.
This info makes a massive difference to your questions.

It's an idea to put this info in your signature for all future posts

Welcome to the forum my thoughts on the Terraclean is a no the one and only reason why I visited the local agent and he advised me not to as they couldn't  guarantee it wouldn't knacker my injectors up on my (Cayenne 3.2 petrol)

You can get an official diesel system/injector cleaner from BMW - Coltswold BMW sell it on flea-bay at a good discount, and they are on here as coltwoldbmwmini too.

Send Jason at jason@bwchiptune (also on here) a PM if you want safe and sound advice about remapping.  He knows what he’s doing and can 3xplain the do’s, don’ts or shouldn’ts as well as any risks.

Hi iv researched this and engine detox is much better way to go thay use gas throw the air intake, instead of fuel. There's a company near me in Essex that iv spoken with and thay guarantee it will not harm nothing, I got a price of a stage 3 detox ( engine turbo the lot ) and a economy remap with gains of +10hp and +90 tourqe +10% - 20% fuel saving, price was around 450-500 👍

Did you have a remap? Interested in knowing the gains and whether a remap is worth it

I have just had mine remapped and can feel the difference if I put my foot down, especially on hills, I can feel myself pushed back in the seat on hard acceleration.

Only time will tell if there is a gain on MPG but that will also depend on how I drive "tank"

Funny you mention the hills... i was happy with the power until today when i over took a slow lorry up a hill and thought .. ok, i could just do with a bit more power.

I am not too fussed about the extra MPG but definitely interested in the power gains.

Do you have a before and after comparison? What sort of remap did you have?

I have attached the graph print out from the remap. It was done by Celtic Tuning on their rolling roads, they also did my last 525d touring.

Basic figures:

BHP - Original = 303.1HP Remapped = 358.1HP Increase = 55HP
Torque - Original = 458.5lb-ft Remapped = 521.3 lb-ft Increase = 62.8lb-ft

The only downside was the large increase in Insurance but the grin factor already ahs paid for that.

You will also notice from the graph the change in the flow of the lines from low down making it overall smother through the entire rev range and "push you into the seat" torque.

Just thought I'd add a message about insurance.

I originally insured "tank" with Skyinsurance as a modified vehicle declaring the remap. That cost me £885, fully comp, 2 drivers and me having 3 points (derivers 50 years and 43 years old).

I have now cancelled that policy and gone through LV as it cost me £630 and that includes business mileage.

Definitely shop around for cover if you get your vehicle remapped, a lot of companies would not even cover an X5, even the one that covered my remapped 525d touring.
