Someone might make sense of this stupid fault I've got. Had an issue with the servo motor gear. Lights came on then the car was vibrating and wouldn't roll forward on its own when in drive like a normal auto does. Then when it went into part the car jumped forward and it was ok after that. (I'm assuming the transfer case kicked in and then wouldn't come out because of the gear having no teeth on it) ever since then the car seems to knock down the gears harsh and when going round corners. (Again with the servo motor repaired and kicking in as it should) I've since then changed the auto box itself, the transfer case and also the servo motor for another one and still the car drives horrible. As soon as I unplug the servo motor so it's smooth as silk.
My question is where the hell is the transmission control module located? I've looked in the box that's located under the wiper arms and there's only the main ecu under there with two plugs on it. The control module I've found on eBay only has one plug. Could it be located in the boot or somewhere else? The car is a 2006 3.0d e53 x5. Any help would be massively appreciated.

Send a PM to kkx5 on the Forum. He’s an expert and works on these things for a living.
When it all working again, have a look at your tyres too. Not using ‘*’ marked rubber and wide differences in tread depth can and has broken BMW xDrive cars, especially with staggered wheel sets. Diffs are also known to break.
......and aboard

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

I was thinking the diff too but seems tight and there's no whining coming from it. Ok I'll look the guy up and hope he can help. It's the strangest fault I've ever come across but so far I've changed the gearbox. Transfer case and servo motor and still no different. Losing the will to live with this car!
