Hello out there...

Hello folks, I have recently purchased a 3.0d E83 X3. It's got a lot to live up to after many years of Saab ownership, so we will see how she works out. I do all my own maintenance and so far a lot of it seems fairly easy. I've had to fully service it and change the front calliper's after the offside was found to be sticking and then the starter motor failed, not a small job and while the inlet manifold is off, you might as well do the glow plugs and swirl flap blanking. So not a cheap start to my ownership but it news seems to run well, so hopefully.......

Hello and :hi: to the Forum  :D

Add checking tyres to your list.  E83s are very sensitive to tyres, and not having ‘*’ marked ones fitted is an increased risk of broken transmissions on cars with staggered wheel size setups.

‘*’ marked means matched rolling radii for front and rear wheelsets.

Hi, I just have the standard 17" rims front and back with matched tyres, I think this set up is a little easier on the drivetrain and probably on your wallet when they need replacing but good advice, thank you.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Congrats on you new X3 and as you say the matched set is a good idea as a lot of them have caused probs with the drivetrain where the tyres are mismatched.
