Hi

It may be worth checking the fuses on the car as it could be one has blown

I had this just once and it fixed itself a few minutes later after the car was restarted.

The binnacle is only held in by a couple of screws (at the top) so you should be able to check the connections on the back.  It’s all electronic and not very deep either.

There are several companies on the internet that specialise in binnacle repairs, it may be an idea to contact one to see if they have come across this problem before. Maybe they will need you to send it to them for testing/ repair.
Just a thought.

I notice you are a new member and if you have recently purchased the car did it come with a warranty which may cover it, as it doesn't sound like wear and tear but the item failing. It's not a problem that appear to have have heard of on the forum.

update had the clocks checked they were fine put them back in and the idrive didn't work and the car wouldn't start which it did before. we started to recheck all fuses and my son noticed key didn't lock in proper so we stripped ignition to find it has a ribbon cable attached and this had virtualy come out we pushed it back in place and the car started and the instrument cluster is now working fine very unusual but a nice fix in the end  ::)
