Low Idle

Any body know a way if possible to increase the tick over on a 3.0d
When i first start my car the revs go to around 850 then drop to around 600/625 after 5 to 10 seconds.
After a run when the engine is hot and i come to a stop in traffic then it drops to 500 and i see the red oil light flicker unless i take it out of drive then the revs go up to around 550.
Oil was changed less than 3k ago and with good oil and man filter.
Any ideas.

I know that idle speed is adjusted using the diagnostics on the 4.4/4.6. I cant speak for the diesel, if so you need access to Inpa or similar I don't know if it can be done using Carly.

Good luck

I have Inpa but not too good with it.
If it can be done with Inpa anybody know where there is a "how-to".

As a rule, I don't leave mine in drive when I stop, as it just pulls on the torque converter & clutches...
It will always drop the revs when in drive when not moving by default, as a load is applied.

Re oil pressure....
When was the oil last changed & what with... and was the filter changed also .... ?
May also be worth replacing the pressure sensor.

The revs are correct at idle at around 625 after the engine slows down from start.

The engine pops the revs up on start to ensure everything is lubricated initially & then settles down.

Revs at 500 rpm in drive at stationary is normal for the 3.0d.

Oil was changed around 3k ago with 5w30 quantum long-life approved bmw ll04.
A man oil filter was fitted at the same time.
Car has done 163k do you think a 5w40 might be better (doesn't use any oil)
