iphone cradle Q
iphone cradle Q
Hi all,
I picked up our new X5 yesterday (55 plate 3.0d) and am in the process of 'personalising' - shall we say .
Tints go on tomorrow, new Kenwood 7" touch screen on the way, Jason@BW on stand by - all is good!
So... part of the job is to get the Kenwood installed - the car didn't have sat nav originally so I've bought a DNX-7260BT head unit. It does everything, and I've also got the iphone connection cable to go in there. What I ideally wanted was an iphone (3GS) cradle that sits in the centre console to pipe the cabling into - rather than into the glove box for example. Clearly, lots on ebay, but none showing particularly the X5 set up. Does anyone have a pic?
Many Thanks
RB

No such thing exists for the E53 models (I believe) - but you can get the E70 one and squeeze it in place. You need to make the cut-out a little bigger in the armrest where it will sit.
I know pewters did a thread with pics on it, just can't find it (could have been on the old forum).

Re: iphone cradle Q
If it helps i plumbed a female cigar lighter lead from the stock one to below the handbrake area out of sight, then bought a Brodit (no holes) charging cradle bracket and mounted it on the centre console then hooked it into the new female socket. This is then Bluetoothed into my Parrot kit.
So my iphone sits in a neat cradle on the centre console, charges when in the car and runs though my parrot and outputs through the car speakers, its brilliant!
I dont have pictures but could shoot some if needed.

Hi Pvw10,
If it's no bother, would you mind taking a picture? Sounds like exactly what I am looking for.
Cheers

Not 100% clear what your asking. I have an iphone 3GS snap in adapter that sits in the arm rest (centre console???) which i dont use as i have an iphone 4. i would run my iphone cable into there and fit in the snap in adapter to keep it out of sight/oem

Rubbish, my partners iPhone 3GS fits into the iPhone 3 cradle no probs as the iPhone 3 and 3GS are the same shell... The iPhone 4 won't fit in it without modification though if that's what you meant. My cradle part number if you want to look it up is 84 212 158 682-01
