Rear Camber

Hi Guys,

I've got some pretty extreme camber going on at the rear of my 4.6is

I've just changed the rear subframe bushes as they were getting a little tired and I thought that might have had something to do with it, but it hasn't really changed anything. What else could be the cause?

Lots of articles on here about rear camber, but basically you need to jack it up let the air out of the bags and then feel for play in the suspension, any play suggests the ball joint and probably the integral link are done, another favourite is the wishbone/upper control arm has play. Really if some of those things are gone it's probably time to replace all the suspension bushes, even if it's only to stop the need to revisit the area in 6 months when another bush has gone, may cost a bit but will give 80/100k motering

On mine it was the rear lower rose bushes. Changed them and it visibly altered the camber immediately.
Have you actually taken it to get the alignment checked and adjusted? You need somewhere that can do 4wd alignment, but they should be able to see what the issue is once it is up on the ramp

Henry is on the money, if one bush is going the rest won't be far behind. I brought a kit from Ebay I also changed the inner wishbone bushes. The fiddly bit was I made my own bush removal tools for the inner bushes and the rose joint.
As Henry says you should then be good for some time, just make sure you find a reliable place to do the 4 wheel alignment just because they have the equipment doesn't mean they can use it!!

There are also different variant (stiffness) bushes that you can get. google Supaflex and Powerflex. I advent used either so cannot comment

Thanks for the info. I will continue investigating.

The car seems to drive fine, it's just visibly "off".

My lads car drove fine and tyres lasted less than 5k

It shouldn't look visibly off.

Have you had the wheel alignment checked by a place with 4wd checking equipment? Most places don't charge to check just to adjust. No alignment required, no charge. simples.

so ...... have you had it checked?
