Suspension

So, here I am up north awaiting spare parts to arrive. Had a really good fast run have done a further 200 miles, looked in the mirror and could see something wasn't right with the rear right wheel angle, next moment ABS 4x4 basically all the usual lights on, suddenly to go straight the steering wheel needed to be turned 1/4 turn anti clockwise, cause, the top bolt in the integral link has come undone and whilst coming out has managed to strip the threads in the wheel carrier and this allowed the suspension the tilt backwards slightly damaging the air bag, no I didn't in hindsight think there was anything not quite right while driving, just happened. I know it must have taken some time for that bolt to work it's way out but until it fell out I didn't notice anything unusual.
Have ordered new bag and am going to helicoil the carrier, expecting the kit to be here on Tuesday. Luckily my brother in law is able to lend us a car till it's sorted. Anyone have any reasons why I shouldn't helicoil the carrier.

If that’s a crack then that is a very good reason not to Helicoil unfortunately  :o

That's strange as that nearly happened to me. I was hearing a rattle and when i checked the long bolt at the bottom as well as the one the same as yours were loose. I had replaced all my suspension about 6 months earlier and i knew they were all tight.

Checked the others and they are fine, it just that the bolt fits through a rubber washer and can be tightened way beyond what looks right.( ie rubber washer squashed to much) With lack of torque info I will rely on Locktite
