Seat base replacement

Post by alan996 » Thu Oct 12, 2017 12:01 pm

I will look on realoem but does anyone know if the seat base foam can be bought on its own ?

It was previously repaired but I think they over stuffed it so it creaks like mad against the plastic. I've tried to trim the plastic and the foam but it's not helping much.

I was thinking I could get a seat from a crashed one and maybe use the passenger side if it's the same as the driver side ?

The seat base foam is available individually, and they don't appear to be 'sided' so either seat will do. You'd need to get the right base though (standard/sport/comfort) and if you have comfort seats, there are a few different bases depending on options.

If you've tried to trim the foam, that means you've had the seat apart, right? So, was there additional "over stuffed" padding in there as part of a repair? If so, can't you just reduce that?

Are you sure all of the parts have been re-fitted correctly after the repair? That would be my first guess on why it's creaking, rather than the seat pad foam being wrong somehow.

[/quote]I did find the part no on realoem and I have sports seats.

I do think you might be on to something.. the trim doesn't fit back together cleanly so something may not be right...

Prior to me trimming the foam the trim would frequently pop off when getting in or out. Although the parts look cheap enough to just replace I guess...

Maybe compare all of the trim to the other side to see how it’s supposed to fit together.
