The car starts and runs on petrol for the first mile or so before switching over the LPG, a switch allows the car to run on either petrol or LPG. This system allows you to beat the increasing petrol prices as LPG can be purchased for around 71.9p compared to 133.9p for unleaded. Running the X5 on LPG provides the performance of a V8 but at an operating cost less than a 3.0 diesel X5. LPG can be purchased from many petrol stations included BP, Shell and Texaco etc.
