Buying Approved Used - Negotiating??

So I have seen an E70 2010 X5 I love and will be speaking to the dealer tomorrow on the phone initially. In peoples experience what movement is there on the advertised prices of used stock?

Am I better to go in low or try and negotiate an extra year warranty or perhaps a service pack??

Never bought from a dealer before so not really sure how this all plays out?!?

Also does anyone know if they deliver, so I negotiate the deal via phone with the dealership where the car is but then car is transported to my local BMW dealer site where I pay for it and collect it?

There should be wiggle room from the dealer, allbeit you will do well to get generous discount "&" a seconds years warranty. Though be prepared to walk away if the deal doesn't come.
Take into account the worth of the extended warranty, it's probably more valuable than a couple of pounds off the price.
Re the service pack, they sound good, though in reality aren't worth they're value, BMW's have extended servicing and most often the requirements fall out with the packs (even on new) what you'd be getting will most often be wasteful
Re delivery, Yes the dealer will deliver & of course charge for the service, however it's more a case of confirmed purchase and delivery to your door, I'd pay particular attention on delivery day and note any defect prior to signing.
Seldom will the dealer move vehicles between branches, not to say they don't, but they will charge for the customer convienance

Thanks bud, some good points there I hadn't considered particularly with the extended service intervals falling outside the constraints of the pack! Cheeky!

Ok well I will start low on the phone and tell him if we can agree a sensible price subject to seeing it, I will put a deposit down today and travel up early part of next week to inspect/test drive and hopefully complete the purchase.

Thanks for the pointers here goes........

Got off to a slow start, the car is now 'reserved' and in for service and prep until Mom then it's good to go. Salesman was very hard work and his promise to call before he left this evening to sort out the deal and discuss the finer points never came  :noexpression:

Hopefully pick up with it again tomorrow and see if we can get it all nailed into place.

He was obviously being a twat with you in my opinion seeing if you'd bother him let him sweat and get the best deal for you there's plenty more out there.

Ok so negotiating was 'minimal' to say the least  :)) they have included free delivery and knocked a couple of hundred off the price so I am a happy camper all round. Deposit paid today, delivery set for next Thursday at my home address!!!!!! It's like  has come early!!!!!!

Here's a link of our new car - https://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/vehicle/2017 ... on=Bs284ay

Really happy with colour combo and some nice options too, shame it's not LCI but you can't have everything and after 6 months in a 1.0 Citroen C1 this will be like travelling around in a Rolls Royce!

Few questions -

Do they have the lights under the exterior door handles on this model?
Are the two keys 'memory' keys so if SWMBO has one and I have the other will it recognise the different keys?
Is there anyone in Somerset/Bristol that has Carly that could do some coding if required in exchange for cash/beer tokens?

Keep you posted.
