Hi Guys
Has anyone moved from a GLE to an X5 if so what are your thoughts on both cars ?
I'm currently looking at both cars but can't decide which to go for.
Any help however biased is welcome.
Currently have F25 X3 2.0d MSport.
Cheers

Mercedes GLE or X5
Re: Mercedes GLE or X5
I work for Merc off and on but my own car is an E70 35d. The GLE seems to be slightly less spacious than the X and whilst it's a personal thing, I don't like the Merc interiors. The 350 engine in the Merc feels a bit lacklustre to me, it doesn't have the grunt of the X.
It does however, score over the X on interior sound levels, it seems to be quieter, with less tyre noise.
Very much horses for courses, I'd have an X every time, but drive both and see which you prefer.

Re: Mercedes GLE or X5
After much deliberation X5 30d with MSport plus package is the way to go.
Need to decide between Carbon Black, Space Grey or Mineral White.
I'm edging towards Mineral White does this suit the X5 ??

Re: Mercedes GLE or X5
I quite like the grey, had both of the other colours you mention on on a 5 series and M3 respectively. Does it have privacy glass as I think that makes a difference

Re: Mercedes GLE or X5
I have the Carbon Black now - nightmare on the X5 as it shows everything, all the time.
The major issue is the gills throwing crud up the side of the car. For this reason and the fact it looks classy on the X5, I would say 100% Space Grey.
I was going Space Grey right up to the end but decided against it as my wife's care is Mineral Grey (Space looks flat next to it on the drive) - regret that now.

Re: Mercedes GLE or X5
I chose Carbon Black knowing it would show the dirt, but only because I was replacing a Space Grey X5 30d Msport and felt I had to get a different colour for a change. I liked the Space Grey.
As has been said before on here, the colour choice is rubbish - there isnt a decent metallic blue, nor green nor red......

Jon, I'm a bit late in the day, but I can perhaps give you some reassurance from my personal experience that you've made the correct decision.
I had an ML for a long time and after a short break with a Jag, nearly bought another one before deciding to go for an X6. I think the X6 (or 5) is a far better car to drive. Handling is far better, I found the GLE (and my old ML) to have a great deal of body roll, that is far better controlled in the BMW.
A big issue was the interior though. The GLE is far too long in the tooth in its design - it has hardly changed for many years now and really needs an update in my opinion. The X6 just felt far more luxurious, and far more modern.
The BMW infotainment is streets ahead of Mercedes' Comand as well.
We've never even questioned our decision to go for the BMW (we went for Mineral White in the end)
Cheers,
MarkP
