i wouldnt bother mate. the oem nav is rubbish compared with a £100 tomtom. it may look nice but not worth the space it takes up. there is quite a few after market ones that fit. i would source and gowith one of those if i had a choice.

Wiring loom was never there by default on any year of manufacture. If it was OEM spec'ed you had it, if not, never there pre-wired.

Retrofitting the MkIV Navigation system is a major task and needs other kits added to update the mobile phone system, radio and On Board Monitor just to be ready to add the Nav (if you have option 644 already that helps reduce the bills a bit). It would take a BMW Dealer with the right specialist tools and test kit just over two full days to do the work. Add the cost of the kits to the labour charges and IMHO it is not worth doing. You could buy a very good oversees holiday and still have enough left for a really good Tom Tom GPS nav unit.

Save your money.....

01 will be fitted with the Mk3 CD based system and 06 will be the MkIV 16:9 DVD based system.

If you have a diesel then the 06 has an uprated 218bhp engine/6-speed transmission, different headlight units with clear indicators and projector lamps and a redesigned front bumper, clear high level brake-light. I can't remember what the other changes were although I think a lot of them were in the options rather than on the car.
