I was thinking of replacing the front in-bumper fog light halogen H11's wth equivalent LED's, the "Afterpartz" fan-less ones on Amazon look pretty good. A few questions, any input welcome:

1. Anyone done this or similar?
2. Was there enough space behind the reflector assembly in the bumper?
3. Any issues with Canbus, dash warning lights etc
4. I see there's a hexagonal plastic knob presumably to adjust the beam angle, is there a specified set-up procedure?
5. Any aggro from other road users if you have them on?

On mine, they're the same 9005 fit as my main beam.  I'm really pleased with the main beam LEDs I've got, so will simply get the same ones for the fogs.  They do have fans, but that doesn't bother me.

Is the wiring strong enough to take it ?I am pretty sure you may need to wire in relays.

Hmm, I'd have thought any problem would be the other way round, i.e. the LED's being far more efficient than incandescent, with the resulting much lower current drain triggering the fault light as the computer thinks the bulb has blown and gone open circuit.

I think the "resistor pack" supplement sometimes offered with LED's is to operate wired in parallel with the LED and by continually draining power fool the computer that the "bulb" is OK.

Clearly this is wasteful, and there may be some way to adjust the computer's behaviour via reprogramming but haven't investigated further as yet.

With BMW Scanner 1.4.0 you can turn off the bulb check hot and cold very easy.
