Buying AUC, what can I realistically expect.

On Saturday I went to have a look at an X5 which I really liked but did notice a few small scratches and a typical 'chip' on the door caused by some careless person opening their door onto it.  At the time I said to the salesman that I'd want them repaired, but repaired properly and not just touched in with a paint pen. His words were "shouldn't be a problem, the body shop have never refused this kind of work before". We couldn't reach a deal on Saturday but did yesterday so I put a holding deposit down pending a test drive and bodywork done.. However, I was dealing with a different guy yesterday and when I mentioned the bodywork he said that he will come out with me to have a look at the bodywork when I go for the test drive which is today.

What can I realistically expect in terms of 'repair'? Is it unrealistic to think I can get a full smart repair and that they'll just touch it up with a pen instead, or should I be able to insist on an 'invisible' repair. I know it's used and it's never going to be like new, but I've owned quite a number of cars in my time and none have been like this after 18 months. None I would call major by any extent and are only down to the base coat, and none have caused any indentation. The biggest scratch I would say is less than an inch in length and the type of thing you'd get if you'd  brushed past and caught it with metal buttons in your jeans or something.

I am a bit picky but I've never seen a good job with a touch up pen, it always sits proud. Anyway, any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
