injectors might need cleaning?

just a quick one really , ive got a slight misfire at about , 2k, feels like its hesitating , (if i rest my foot on the accelerator), i have noticed though the little mpg gauge , at the time of the hesitation, that does fluctuate slightly , and then it feels like it changes gears .?
any whoo, the car apart from this starts, fine , runs ok , isn't a slouch either, apart from the 15.8mpg,
so , Q is this , do you think it could be the injectors that needs a clean, cars done 156k and most of the time its filled up with asda or sainsburies unleaded, not super just normal fuel
ideas?
oh, ive put in new plugs , new coil tubes, cleaned maf, and throttle body.

You can also buy a proper injector cleaner from BMW if you choose that route.
Petrol version is - 83 192 183 738
Cotswold BMW regularly offer it on eBay much cheaper than direct retail from a dealer
I use the diesel version (83 19 2 296 922) in all my BMWs.

It's not transmission trouble is it? Mine had what I thought was a miss fire circa 2000rpm and 40-60mph. Hesitation was trans judder occasionally. Turned out the trans fluid was shot and never been replaced at 140k.

ive tried injector cleaner , didn't really do anything , however not tried BMW one
there are no codes stored , actually surprised at that.
i had ALL fluids changed about 9 months, front transfer box rear diff and gearbox,.
im hoping its not trans trouble, it seems like its at low speed ,. maybe 20 to 30 mph, i dont really get it at high speed ,
there is talk in the US about the torque converter being shot, or the rubber doughnut on the prop?.
tbh, i can live with it , until it gets that bad where something does go bang

Sounds like a car i had some time ago.
Started out like a very slight misfire but got worse and a year later it was like driving on the rumble strip but only coasting at around 60mph.
Turned out to be the lockup clutches in the torque converter.

just what I need, the potential of a gearbox removal to get a TC installed, if it IS the TC , might as well just get a rebuilt gearbox installed
you know whats scary , I'm in way too much ££ wise , just to say sod it , its gone

I put 2 tubes of "DrTranny" in the box and the problem went away for a month or so but it did confirm the problem.
This is the stuff i put 2 in as you spill a lot.

I get a slight misfire every so often, I put in a can of this maybe twice a year, seems to sort it.

It's cheaper than she of the other options you are considering so may be worth it. as another poster said, Id get the codes read before I started spending money willy nilly

Hiya Smee
believe it or not , there arnt any codes stored !!!!!!
what an e53 with no codes. NEVER
I'm taking the shed off the road in a few weeks, as I'm bringing my (deceased) dads car out of the garage , might as well use that than the X
then I can save some brass, and then I can play with the X without loosing 4 wheels
all I know ive had the car 3 years , its done 156k, and ive allways put sainsburies fuel in ,

well , that was an interesting afternoon,
decided to put in dr lube
parked car on kerb (drivers side) so I wouldn't get any spillage and id have room to put stuff in ,
nope wrong ,
ive lost about 1.5 liters of oil I managed to capture all of it , but still it tried to escape,
2 tubes successfully in gearbox, ive just got to wait till later and try to get them escapee liters back inside
no I thought you filled the oil up till it tricked out then tightened up da plug,
wheres all this extra oil appeared from
oh , oil was changed maybe 6 months ago , now its a lovely shade of jukky brown ( like a normal oil change on an engine)
oh hum , ill wait till it cools down again , will do it tomorrow to try to get oil in

Did you have the engine running when you took the filler plug off, like you do for the final top up?
