Hi Are swirl flaps an issue on the 218bhop 3.0d X5? This is the 2006 car.

Thinking of remapping but may do the flaps first...just in case!

No. Members of the board started looking at this a while back and we came to the conclusion there are no swirl flaps on the 3.0d 218bhp engine, and there don't appear to be any on the 186bhp version either. No need for you to worry on that front. :D

I have that engine in mine and there aint no flaps. Bizarrely though, my wife's E46 2005 330d M-Sport Conv (with the same engine) does have them!! :?

Should we have a "swirl flaps sticky" or a "sticky swirl flaps". Actually, the 2nd one sounds quite rude!!

If you want to rest easy then take your VIN number and enter it into http://realoem.com

Go to Engine section and under it you should see another section titled :'Intake manifold AGR'.
If your car has swirl flaps fitted it will say: 'Intake manifold AGR with flap control'
