thanks sanj for the help you were right already prewired

you need to fit a relay behind the glovebox about 1/2hrs work as means removing the full glovebox and then the fuse box which sits in there if you check fuse 29 and make sure there is a 10amp fuse there this means the car is pre-wired which saves a lot of time there is a small red 3 pin plug taped onto the loom under the top steering column cover if your car is prewired this connects into ypur new column switch.if the car is not prewired it can still be done but you will have to tap into a switched power supply such as the cigarette lighter and run a separate cable to the connector behind the column switch

BEWARE REMOVAL OF THE AIR BAG MUST BE DONE WITH THE KEY REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION OR YOUR AIRBAG LIGHT WILL COME ON and you will need a code reader to remove the light ,fitting of the column switch is easy just remember to connect your extra red lead ,then off with the old wheel then on with the new remember to mark your wheel so when you fit the new one on its in the correct postion nothing worse than a wheel off centre

i am impressed how hot the wheel gets it only takes a matter of seconds to heat up am well happy :D

hope this helps someone sorry for the lack of pics but any questions just ask and i will talk u through it seats are next all the switchgear is in

Got this pdf saved on my memory stick, excellent mod and was the first mod i did to my X5.

bazzyboy, hope you don`t mind me posted this link here, i didn`t want to start a new thread for the same how to
and thought pictures might help someone better understand this mod. You say heated seats are next, is that front or
rears or both ?
