Had 2 letters today from BMW saying that our X5's have to have new driver airbags on recall. Odd acer all these years.. Anyone else?

Our E46 was done when 10 years old.  If the car is on the road, recalls still apply.  There is a cutoff but it is a number of years after production of that model ceases.  Interestingly this recall is for a different problem.  The E46 one we had was due to 'damp explosive' being present.

Is this for 2001 and 2002 only?
2005 (55 plate) x5 3.0d sport, auto trans, nav tv thingy, but no dsp.

Under a turbo swap presently (fingers crossed it fixes her!)

Check the DVSA recall site for VIN range for the E39.  There is a different recall for airbag issues for later cars with faulty explosive in the front passenger airbag too.  It doesn't just affect BMW either.  One particular airbag manufacturer produced tens of thousands of suspect/faulty units.

What i mean is it say's in post 4 you say you booked your car in then 2 day's later you say you got the recall letter ?.

Booked it in after hearing about the recall on this wonderful site,then happened to get my letter 2 days later
