As you do, I thought as it's a good day (It Was  >:() I thought I'd change the engine oil and filter.
Drained the oil and opened up the filter housing to find that the inner tower piece was in bits. The only thing I can think of is that the garage that carried out the last service had over tightened the cap and broke the inner tower and left it well alone (won't be using that garage ever again :rant: and as I only cover less than 1500 miles a year it's case closed on going to that garage to complain. 
Well having collected as many of the pieces out of the oil housing and had a good look I've found that there are some small pieces missing and having refilled the engine with clean oil (and turned the engine over , god knows why I done that, JUST WASN'T THINKING,and it was by a fluke that I didn't put the oil housing cover back on,, AND YES Old Oil went every where; hopefully the pieces exited the system when this happen ????) I'm going to dump the oil again, disconnect all lines to the oil cooler and flush, then examine the oil via a filter for any small plastic pieces.
QUESTION: What's The Odds Of These's Pieces Coming Out And/Or Causing Engine Damage?
Any Suggestions On What Else To Do????????????

Don't see much else you can do other than what you suggest. Perhaps you could remove the sump and see if there is anything in there but that's a lot of work removing the strengthening plate and even then you'll have the dilemma of, is it bits off the timing chain guides or from the filter housing. I doubt if the bits would work their way to the sump anyway. Your probably in the hands of the little bits of plastic gods. A prayer might help. But seriously, a must is a new housing and don't run the engine till it's fitted, if not 100% confident the pipes you can get to are clear of debri then replace.  Good luck.

Having now charmed down a bit (ONLY A BIT  >:() I've thought after dropping the engine oil , removing the filter housing and connecting pipework
Q1 Does anyone know of a flow diagram the oil takes around the M62 engine?, ( i.e. sump, strainer, oil filter, oil cooler etc etc) to which I could methodically check through from the filter oil housing?

I've thought about removing both crankcase covers.and spraying down each side with some sort of solvent?
Q2 Is there a solvent I could spray (under pressure) down both crank-casings in a bid to dislodge / remove any further bit's of plastic debris (will this wash down into the sump)?

As a general rule the oil follows a path of :-Pump-PRV-Filter-Oil Cooler(if fitted)Engine working parts-Sump. There may be feed off's to spray bars FIP's if diesel from the MOG (main oil gallery) To answer your question. If you have cleaned out the oil filter housing and the pipes, especially the outlet from the housing to the engine MOG then that is as much as you can do, if anything has gone past that pipe its in the engine. Once the high pressure oil has lubricated the working parts it then drains as low pressure to the sump. I do not see any point of cleaning or spraying in the area of the crankcase covers, this is a fairly open area which is lubricated by oil returning to the sump at low/nil pressure and any bits that are there will be washed to the sump for recirculation. There is a fairly fine mesh cover over the oil pump pick up point so virtually nothing large or small can be picked up by the pump and recirculated. To prove the point any bits that break off the timing chain guides end up in the sump.
