Air suspension

I recently received notorious air suspension inactive error. I plugged in inpa and dis and nothing came on (as in error code), i checked all the fuses etc. and still nothing.

Now the symptoms are that i still have an error on the dash, i cannot raise or lower the car using buttons next to a steering wheel and the pump/suspension only works when I initiate a check through DIS for instance.

Any suggestions?

start with basics ...... fuse/relay
the compressor is the same one as fitted to land rover / range rover / audi allroad
I've heard of problems on all 3 of them but not on the x5 (I might be wrong on that)

same old same old...

This plagues me when she is having a bad hair day...

Check battery voltages at the jump point under the bonnet...
should be 12v or better after a night switched off, & 13.8 or better when running after a single rev up to 2000 rpm & then idling.

If below these levels, get the battery checked.

Also, to shift the error list, disconnect battery & short the battery connectors together .... go make a cuppa & reconnect & restart....
this will probably fix the issue.

Did all of that... one q though - is there a way to check whether relay is okay or not (and how pls)?

Thx

good point Sir...
The relay it's self should have some kind of mini pin-out diagram moulded into it, so you can power it up & test resistance across the contacts & whether the solenoid is /is not burned out..

It sounds like the control module behind the glovebox.

I had replaced nearly all the air suspension components to sort different issues before finally binning it for proper suspension.

Could it be checked somehow to see if it a true culprit of issues i'm seeing?

Fyi - it does not loose any air if left for days and days and i can raise it using INPA. Really weird???!

When my control module was the issue I had the manual button still lit up but couldn't get the suspension to raise or lower using that. Also the air bags were holding air with no leaks etc present. You could use the diagnostic software to raise and lower the car too (so pump was working).

Whether those are all the issues you are seeing, you'd need to clarify.

Battery was weak on a car and i had it replaced over the weekend .. that didn't yield much results and i still have the 'inactive suspension' error with no LEDs against up/down buttons.

Here is a screenshot i took using INPA... any suggestions or pointers re what could've gone wrong?
