AC compressor thingy not spinning

The wife noticed that the x5 wasnt blowing out ice cold air , i took it down to the local ac specialist who checked the gas in the system and said it was fine . He had a look around the engine pointed to the compressor and said the end bits not spinning and it needs to go on diagnostics .
Is there anything i can check myself before spending the cash on a dignostic check?

Thanks . Anyone with anything more specific such as location of relays , I found one mention of a relay in Google in the o/f/s wheel arch but not sure if that's accurate , also the climate control in the dash is all working so i assume power isnt an issue but how to check its getting to the compressor unit?

My compressor wasn't spinning, when the AC was on, because the drive belt had snapped !!

As your gas pressure has been checked OK, the next thing is does your aux fan (the electric one) turn when the a/c is switched on?  If it doesn't then that will also shutdown the compressor.  These fans are not a simple fix as they run on a pulsed signal, not 12V DC.

Not the same car but my e46 had a similar problem and it was down to a pressure switch on the pipe.
A case of locating it and then unscrew and replace with new one and no gas lost.

So got hold of a cable and had the error codes read I have the following

JBBF Error code A72F  kind of error 64
JBBF Error code 9C5E  kind of error 21
DME/DDE Error code 4A4F  kind of error 61

Does anyone know is how to decipher the above or where in INPA I go to find out more ?

Cheers

Pressure sensor was the problem i had on the e46.
Air compressor is that for the suspension or the air-con.
Can't see the screen shot very well but that's just me lol.

Swapped the sensor out cleared the codes down and the compressor is still showing an error, so looks like I'm going to have to give it in at an indi ........
