PDC!!!

Post by jordanthomson91 » Sun May 21, 2017 9:07 pm

Hello everyone,

Some nutter reversed into my car the other week and drove away and didn't leave any information so I'm left to fix their mess!

Not too much damage, front bumper is burst slightly but i have a car cosmetic guy who is a wizard at fixing up plastic bumpers.

The front middle right sensor has been nudged out of place and I'm getting the warning in the car. If the sensor is bust (the actual front of the sensor and surrounding is fine) and the guy cannot fix the wiring can i buy these in 1s or do i need to buy a whole new pack? He's taking the bumper off anyway for spraying so he will have full access to it.

If I'm happy for the sensor to not work, all other 7 on the car work perfectly, he will just glue the sensor in and have it not attached to anything for cosmetic purposes, can the fault be reset and be good to go?

Cheers!
J

Having recently had PDC issues on my E70, the system seems to work like the E53 one -if one sensor does not work the whole system goes down.  I suppose you can code one of the sensors out so the error goes away but whyever not replace the sensor particularly if the bumper is coming off anyway?    They are not that expensive -the cost to code it out  might cost about the same unless you have "free" access to suitable software. Probably need to check the control unit is ok though, hopefully it was not damaged, even "small" bumps can do quite a bit of unseen damage as well.
