About to Sell (probably...)

Hello fine people,

After 2 and a bit years of stewardship of my 2007 3.0D SE I am looking to part ways and purchase a F11 BMW Touring. I have loved the X5 and I have thoroughly and meticulously maintained the car, whilst making various improvements along the way. The reasons for selling are simple really,  I need something that will not be hit by the proposed diesel tax on cars that do not have Euro 6 emissions compatibility and the car is now only really doing the school run and therefore such a car is no longer really necessary. I might as well sell whilst the car has some value which will help get me into the car I now need. The BMW dealer I am talking to is offering me £8,500 (After initially offering me £7,250), however I still believe this to be rater low so would really appreciate your valuation advice.

The Car:
  • Metallic Grey - which I had touched up and all parking marks removed last month
  • It rides on 19 inch 213 style alloys with the appropriate Bridgestone run flat tyres (which were replaced last summer and currently have 7mm depth all round)
  • Dynamic Pack
  • Full black leather interior with slight wear on the drivers side bolster
  • 7 seats
  • Front and rear 4 way climate control
  • Heated seats front and rear with driver side memory
  • Rear DVD player, fully working with wireless headphones
  • Digital TV
  • iPod connection with full iDrive integration
  • Heated Steering Wheel
  • Fully working panoramic roof with no leaks
  • Upgrades headlight to LED including "angel eyes"
  • BMW fitted removable tow bar including upgraded radiator/fan
  • Full service history all BMW apart from the last two services
  • 103,000 miles
Items of note:
  • The headlight washers have stopped working
  • Alloys have minor curbs
Do you think £8,500 is a fair price or should I hold out from as I am seeing cars similar on the market for between £9,800 and £11,000...

Thanks all

RC.

The best advice I can give is to advertise at £11,000, but be open to offers. Realistically, you should be expecting about £10,000 for this car when it is sold, as that is definitely the sweet spot for your car, in the condition that it is in, with all the options. The price would attract enough sellers, with the viewpoint that the miles are good, with not too high of a mileage, but has a great spec. If attention is very slow (normally there is attention for the X5), then advertise lower and lower prices per week, drop about £50 to £100 per week, but ensure that you receive £10,000 for it.
